The Scout.com Preseason State Rankings will all be revealed over the next five days for the Class of 2007. Today, Georgia, Illinois, Nebraska and Nevada are released..
Each passing season the state of Georgia produces more and more prospects, This Class of 2007 is loaded at the top and there is great depth once again. Running back Caleb King, cornerback Eric Berry, and defensive end/linebacker Allen Bailey are all five-star prospects and they lead the Peach State contingent.
“Plain and simply, the Peach State is filled with playmakers this year,” said Scout.com South Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit. “With running back Caleb King and quarterback Josh Nesbitt, two dynamic players with the ball in their hands, to go along with defensive stalwarts Eric Berry and Allen Bailey, both projected to make the move to another position in college, Georgia is filled with talent at the top and loaded at every position through the rest of the Georgia top 100.”
Illinois, like the state of Georgia, is always a hotbed for prospects as college coaches flock to the land of Lincoln year in and year out. This season, the city of Chicago leads the ways with two super prospects in defensive end Martez Wilson and running back Robert Hughes.
“Illinois features as many as ten players who could play in any conference for any team in the country,” said Scout.com Midwest Recrutiing Analyst Bob Lichtenfels. “Martez Wilson leads the charge in Illinois. Wilson is a devastating pass-rusher off the edge who has the nations best salivating over his abilities.”
The state of Nebraska has two terrific prospects in Niles Paul and Harland Gunn that are at the top of their state rankings. Paul is a receiver and Gunn is an offensive lineman.
“Niles Paul is one of the best pure athletes that has ever stepped on a field in Nebraska,” said Lichtenfels. “Paul is a great player who often gets overshadowed because he plays in a smaller state. Gunn is a terrific interior lineman that is headed to Miami. Football fans should keep and eye on Jared Crick, he could invoke memories of a former Husker legend Grant Wistrom.”
