Profile 2003 - Shelton Bynum (DT/OL)One
would be hard pressed to find a bigger offensive line in high school than the
one that Cedar Grove put on the field last year. Marcus
McNeil (6-8/340) and Jonathan
Palmer (6-5/300) both signed with Auburn in February, but Shelton
Bynum (6-5/307) and Justin
Wade (6-2/280) return to anchor the lines. Cedar Grove has size in the
trenches that many division 1 schools would be envious of. While they lost 2 big
300 pounders, they still return 2 more. For his part,
Bynum plays both the offensive and defensive lines, but he definitely has a
preference. "I like to play defense," said Bynum. "I like the
aggressive nature of the defensive side of the ball. We've already started
practice, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there. We were pretty
stacked last year," said Bynum with a laugh, "but we'll be pretty good
this year too." Bynum attended summer camps with
Georgia and Middle Tennessee State. "Those are the 2 camps I went to. I've
gotten early offers from Kansas, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Maryland. My favorite
teams though are Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and Auburn."
