Joseph Barksdale is a standout defensive tackle at Cass Tech High School and was one of 400 players nominated nationally and then ultimately selected by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. The committee consists of Scout.com, Tom Lemming, and SportsLink. As a U.S. Army All-American, Barksdale is eligible for the following honors: National H.S. Player of the Year Award, Walter Payton Trophy, AFL Ironman of the Year, U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Awards, and the Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard U.S. Army Awards.
Barksdale was presented the ceremonial Army jersey by Army personnel and former Penn State Nittany Lion and current Detroit Lion Eddie Drummond.
Barksdale began his year long odysessy back in January when he attended the U.S. Army All-American Junior Combine in San Antonio. Now, Barksadle has earned a return trip, but this time as a U.S. Army All-American.
Barksdale has scheduled official visits to LSU, Notre Dame, USC and is also interested in Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan and Miami.
