Watson Added To Bowl Game

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Lansford Watson of Brooklyn has been named a 2007 U.S. Army All-American. He joins a group of extraordinary student-athletes selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

This classic East vs. West match-up will be televised live on NBC at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will feature the nation’s top 80 high school football athletes. Since its inception, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been a key launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Watson joins the likes of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Brady Quinn, and Adrian Peterson who all made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans.

Lansford Watson, a member of the Scout.com National 100 team, is a four star wide receiver prospect ranked as the number eleven player in the nation at the position.

"Watson has great hands and runs strong routes. He is a big, physical kid who makes the tough catches," said East recruiting analyst Bob Lichtenfels. "Although he plays wide receiver, he has the potential to play tight end for some college programs."

Watson is committed to play for Maryland next year and the Terps are excited to see what he can do in San Antonio this January.

“Lansford Watson is one of the most talented wide receiver prospects in the entire country,” said Garrett Shea, Director of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. “At times he looks like a man playing with boys on the field, with his great size, strength and speed. He runs very precise routes and is not afraid to make the tough catch in traffic. In addition, there may not be a better red zone target in the nation, as he caught 11 touchdown passes last season. Lansford Watson is a tremendous all-around athlete and the Bowl is proud to have him join the U.S. Army All-American class of 2007.”
