HEMPSTEAD, TEXAS – Terrance Toliver of Hempstead has been named a 2007 U.S. Army All-American. He is the first athlete from the state of Texas to be selected to the WEST Squad. Toliver will join a group of extraordinary student-athletes selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
This classic East vs. West match-up will be televised live on NBC at 12:00 Noon (CST) and will feature the nation’s top 80 high school football athletes.
Terrance Toliver
is a standout wide receiver at Hempstead High School and was one of 400 players nominated nationally and then ultimately selected by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. The committee consists of Scout.com, Tom Lemming, and SportsLink. As a U.S. Army All-American, Toliver is eligible for the following honors: National H.S. Player of the Year Award, Walter Payton Trophy, AFL Ironman of the Year, U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Awards, and the Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard U.S. Army Awards.
"Toliver is an amazing all-around athlete," said Jeremy Patterson, Southwest recruiting analyst for Scout.com. "He dominates because of his tremendous size, speed and hands. His becomes the biggest threat after the catch. His elusiveness, savvy athleticism and competitiveness will make him explode at the next level."
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Toliver is rated as the nation's number three wide receiver, a five star prospect, and a member of the Scout.com National 100 team.
"Terrance Toliver is a fine wide receiver prospect with loads of potential," said Garrett Shea, Director of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. "He possesses great size, speed and leaping ability, which are vital skills for the position. He also shows great ability to get open, catch the ball with his hands, and take the ball up field, creating big plays. With his skill set, there is no reason why he should not thrive at the college level. Terrance Toliver is an excellent all-around athlete and the Bowl is proud to have him join the U.S. Army All-American class of 2007."
Tolliver took an official visit to
