Since its inception, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been a key launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Benn joins the likes of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Brady Quinn, and Adrian Peterson who all made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans. Benn is a standout wide receiver at Dunbar High School and was one of 400 players nominated nationally and then ultimately selected by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee.
Ranked as a five star player with Scout.com, Arrelious Benn is the nation's top wide receiver prospect and the number eight prospect regardless of position.
"He’s extremely athletic, blazing fast and has great hands," said Bob Lichtenfels, East recruiting analyst for Scout.com. "What sets him apart is his intelligence and understanding of the wide receiver position. Benn can change direction on a dime and can start and stop like smaller, quick wide receivers."
As a U.S. Army All-American, Arrelious Benn will have the opportunity during Bowl week to participate in a series of Army leadership and teamwork sessions, NFL athlete seminars, study hall sessions, and goal setting and achieving workshops. As part of being selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, each athlete’s head coach is invited to travel to San Antonio compliments of the U.S. Army and attend the U.S. Army National Coaches Clinic.
“Arrelious Benn is probably the nation’s #1 wide receiver,” said Garrett Shea, Director of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. “He has all the tools - great size, speed, quickness, smarts, leaping ability, timing, and toughness. He has the ability to beat you deep, or catch the ball underneath and blow through tackles. In addition, he has unbelievable hands, often making spectacular catches over the middle. Arrelious Benn is a tremendous all-around athlete and the Bowl is proud to have him join the U.S. Army All-American class of 2007.”
Benn currently lists Florida State, Illinois, Maryland, Notre Dame, and USC as his top five schools. He already visited Illinois on an official visit and has a scheduled trip to Maryland at the end of October.
