Cole Bennett
Tight End / Linebacker 6-5, 225, 4.61 Dalton, GA - Dalton
School Preferences: Auburn and Georgia Tech lead Alabama, Georgia, and Florida
In a season that is short on great tight ends on the south, Cole Bennett has emerged as one of the best. At 6-5 and 225 pounds, Bennett had a very productive season for state runner-up Dalton High School. Bennett runs like a deer and had 38 catches for 640 yards and 7 touchdowns as a junior. Bennett is entering his 4th year as a starter, and he runs so well that he doubles as a linebacker. His position of choice though is tight end.
"I want to play offense in college," said Bennett. "That's what schools are recruiting me to play, tight end. I went to camps this summer at Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn. Auburn and Georgia Tech have given me early offers, and they are my early leaders. My top 5 would be Auburn. Georgia Tech, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida."
Bennett is an excellent all-around athlete that also excels at power forward for his high school basketball team. He also competes in the high jump and the 4X100 relay for his track team. With his frame and a personal best 4.61 forty time, Bennett would be one of the best tight ends in any year. But in a year in which quality tight ends are scarce, Bennett may be the best.
