Taylor The All-American

HAMPTON, VA -- Tyrod Taylor of Hampton has been named a 2007 U.S. Army All-American. He is the first athlete from the state of Virginia to be selected to the EAST Squad. Taylor joins a group of extraordinary student-athletes selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

This classic East vs. West match-up will be televised live on NBC at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will feature the nation’s top 80 high school football athletes.

“We are excited to see this fine young man represent his school and community as a U.S. Army All-American,” said Colonel Thomas Nickerson, Director of Strategic Outreach for the U.S. Army Accessions Command. “The U.S. Army recognizes the value of individual talents toward achieving team goals, and Taylor’s abilities and dedication make him a strong addition to the game.”

Tyrod Taylor is a standout quarterback at Hampton High School and was one of 400 players nominated nationally and then ultimately selected by the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. He is rated as a five star prospect and the number seven quarterback in the country. He is listed as an athlete and would be the fourth quarterback taken for the EAST squad.

"He's accurate and shows good touch on his deep throws. Taylor's mobility and quickness as a runner make him one of Virginia Tech's most valued early commitments."

Taylor is committed to Virginia Tech and has become a vocal leader in the Hokies' recruiting class.
