Must be a big game in town as some of the biggest recruits left on the board for the Cats are making…
Larry Asante Back from Manhattan
"The visit was real good," said Larry Asante from Coffeyville (Kansas). "It was a wild game. Kansas State was projected to lose, but coach [Ron] Prince told me don't be surprised to see them take the early lead." "I really had fun. Overall the visit went great. Kansas State is up there on my list. I like the coaches, players, school and the community." Asante goes over his official visit play-by-play. "When we got there Friday we got something to eat, and met with the coaches. We went over all the academic stuff and went around the campus," he said. "We went through the training room and had dinner with the team. We then went to the team hotel. We met up with our official visit host. Mine was T.C. [Toney Coleman]. He was a good guy." "The next day we had lunch with the team. We went to the basketball game against William and Mary, and we had dinner with the president of the school." "We went back to the hotel, and we hopped on the bus with the team. When we got off the bus the fans were giving us high-fives and telling us to come to Kansas State." "When the game ended, we went to the house of one of the football players. We celebrated the big win the rest of the night. Everyone was real excited." "I sat down with coach Prince Sunday for 30 minutes before I left. He said in his recruiting process it's not about going to the big schools. It's about going somewhere they take care of you. Education comes first. At the end of your senior year getting your degree is very important. You will always have it to fall back on." The Wildcats' defense was very impressive during the game, and Asante told us his thoughts. "They had a plan and excited it got the job done. The atmosphere in the stadium was great," he said. When asked where Kansas State stood for his signature Asante replied, "Well they are up there. I am going to have to take a few more visits before I can name an overall favorite." Asante has one more official visit scheduled, and he is trying to decide his final two. "I am going to Nebraska the weekend they play Colorado for an official visit. I am not sure where else I will visit. Clemson, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Ole Miss all want me to visit. I will have some tough decisions to make," he said. Stay tuned to Scout.com as we continue to update Asante's recruitment.
