Three-star defensive end Brandon Joiner (6-2, 213, 4.6) from Killeen Shoemaker (Texas) said he remains open but favors five schools from among his 25 scholarship offers.
Joiner favors Nebraska and Texas A&M slightly over Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Purdue. He already visited Arizona State on September 30, Nebraska on October 20 and Purdue on October 27. He will be visiting Oklahoma State on November 24.
"I really like the coaches at Nebraska," said Joiner, ranked as the No. 28 defensive end by Scout.com, said. "They really have a good relationship with their players and I love their tradition. They also have great academics too."
Joiner says that the Huskers are recruiting him the hardest. "I like (defensive line) coach John Blake a lot," Joiner said. "He said he likes my speed and says that I'll be able to help them out on defense.
"But A&M has a good program too and I really like the environment there," Joiner said. "The fans really love the team and I love the game day atmosphere there. They also have amazing facilities."
Joiner was born in Pasadena, California and still has West Coast ties. "I really liked my Arizona State visit because it reminds me of California," Joiner said. "I only lived in California for about two years, but I still go back there every year."
He admits that he never really watched college football growing up. "I always liked playing, more than watching," Joiner said.
"I want to feel like I'm part of a family," Joiner said. "My team is like brothers and that's what I want in college. I'd also like to play early if I can."
Joiner finished his senior season with 90 tackles and seven sacks for a 2-8 team. He benches 350 pounds, squats 450 and has a 33-inch vertical jump.
"I'm fast and very explosive," Joiner said. "I can explode off the line and I'm a good pass rusher. I want to improve reading the ball and my knowledge of the game."
He reports a 4.0 core GPA and a 980 SAT.
