Four-star safety (Scout.com's No. 18) C.J. Peake (6-2, 208, 4.5), from Trotwood-Madison High School in Trotwood (Ohio), heavily favors Wisconsin over West Virginia, Boston College, Michigan State and Louisville. All have offered.
"I took my official visit to Wisconsin in September when they played San Diego State (14-0)," Peake said. "I loved the crowd! The players are way cool and I liked the campus. I have official visits set for West Virginia on December 2 and Boston College on December 9.
"I could commit to Wisconsin tomorrow," Peake said. "The Badgers have a lot of seniors leaving this year. I have a huge chance of playing as a freshman and getting some experience on the field. They're in the Big Ten. It can't get any better than that.
"If I don't make my decision any sooner, I'll probably make it when I get back from Boston College. I'm taking the other official visits to make sure I'm not missing anything. I don't know what that would be though. I know I want to go to Wisconsin. I feel like I belong there.
"Mountaineer coach, (Butch) Jones, says that they want me really bad. He also said that I have a good chance of playing early. That's really important to me. Coaches can say whatever they want to you; the truth is what they put on paper. I know Wisconsin has safeties leaving and West Virginia doesn't.
"I've never thought about Boston College. I really don't even know a lot about them. Coach Don Horton (offensive line) is trying really hard to recruit me. They keep putting a lot of pressure on me," he said.
"Michigan State doesn't have a head coach. I'm not about to choose them, or say I'm considering them without even knowing who their head coach is going to be.
"I went to Louisville when they played West Virginia (44-34) on November 2. I liked the school, but I definitely prefer Wisconsin even though coach Mike Cassity (defensive coordinator) text messages me a lot." Peake said.
Peake reports a 2.5 core GPA and a 16 ACT. He'll retake on December 9.
