Three-star tight end/defensive end Eric Brooks (6-1, 240, 4.8), from Monrovia (Calif.), missed five games during the season with a fractured right knee. His team finished with a 9-3 record and Brooks had 15 tackles and three sacks on defense. Brooks is ranked as the No. 55 tight end in the country by Scout.com.
"I'll probably make my decision soon," Brooks said. "I visit San Diego State on January 13 and there's probably a 75 percent chance I'll commit there. They're after me the hardest and have been all year. They've been inviting me to their games and have shown me a lot of attention. They didn't do too good this year, but they are still rebuilding and I think they'll improve."
The Aztecs lead solidly over Colorado State, Arizona State, Oregon State and Nevada. "I had an offer from Colorado State and I still get mail from them, but that's it," Brooks said. "Arizona State had an offer for me, but withdrew it after my injury."
He reports a 2.6 core GPA and a 700 SAT. Brooks is waiting on his retake results.
