Three-star wide receiver Jonathan Jones (6-4, 190, 4.65) from Everman, Texas has helped lead his team into the third round of the playoffs with 23 catches for 485 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he blocked five extra point attempts and two field goals. He also had two interceptions and one fumble caused.
Jones hasn't set any official visits yet, but favors Arkansas slightly over TCU, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. He said all of his favorites have offered.
"I'll probably set up some visits soon," Jones (ranked No. 64 by Scout.com) said. "I want to go where I'll be able to develop as a player. I want to play for coaches that are good teachers and known for developing players."
The school that has impressed Jones the most this season has been Arkansas. "I've been following them and they look pretty good," Jones said. "They're doing really well and I love their offense. Mitch Mustain will make a great quarterback and I think they'll be a top team for a while.
"But Nebraska has been good too," Jones said. "I talk with coach Shawn Watson (Huskers recruiting coordinator) a lot. He's cool. He says they are looking for a big wide receiver like me and I think their offense is doing well. They will be getting better and better too and it seems like a good opportunity to come in and play."
He reports a 3.2 core GPA, but had to reschedule his November SAT due to a game. Jones plans to take the SAT in December but hasn't set that up yet.
