 Jim Grobe
|
| In a closely contested ballot for the Scout.com Coach of the Year, Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe narrowly edges Greg Schiano of Rutgers. Grobe led the Demon Deacons to the first ACC title since 1970 and a berth in the Orange Bowl against Big East champion Louisville.
Other first team members are sophomore running backs Darren McFadden (Arkansas) and Steve Slaton (West Virginia), fullback Brian Leonard (Rutgers), junior wide receivers Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech) and Dwayne Jarrett (USC) and tight end Jonny Harline (BYU). The offensive line consists of tackles Joe Thomas (Wisconsin) and Jake Long (Michigan), guards Justin Blalock (Texas) and Mike Jones (Iowa) and center Dan Mozes (West Virginia).
The Big 10 is well represented on the first team defensive line with defensive ends Lamarr Woodley (Michigan) and Anthony Spencer (Purdue) and defensive tackles Alan Branch
 Colt McCoy
|
| (Michigan) and Quinn Pitcock (Ohio State). The back seven consist of linebackers James Laurinitis (Ohio State), Patrick Willis (Ole Miss) and Paul Posluszny (Penn State), safeties Reggie Nelson (Florida) and Michael Griffin (Texas) and cornerbacks Leon Hall (Michigan) and Daymeion Hughes.
Quarterback Colt McCoy (Texas) is the Scout.com National Freshman of the Year and he leads the first team offense. Joining McCoy in the backfield are running backs P.J. Hill (Wisconsin) and C.J. Spiller (Clemson) and wide receiver Percy Harvin (Florida). The defense is led by two outstanding safeties in Taylor Mays (USC) and Myron Rolle (FSU).
