Texas linebacker/safety Matt Howe (6-3, 207, 4.65) still favors Stanford slightly over Tulsa, UTEP, Central Florida and Texas A&M (not recruiting). He has offers from Stanford, Tulsa and UTEP and says that Central Florida has offered him an official visit. "I assume that they want me to take an official visit because they'll actually offer me a scholarship," Howe said.
He has an official visit scheduled with Stanford on January 12 and says the Cardinal are recruiting him the hardest. Cardinal linebacker coach, Darrell Patterson, visited Howe at home last week. "They are the first school to come for an in-home visit," Howe said. "They talked with me about my opportunity to play and how I'd fit in really well with their defense. Coach Patterson said that they are recruiting me and one other guy at my position and that they only have one guy ahead of us. The opportunity to play is definitely there. He also really stressed their academics and how it's a good family community."
Howe says he'll take two or three visits before making his decision.
He reports a 5.2 core GPA (5 scale) and an 1890 SAT.
