Four-star wide receiver Ron Brooks (6-0, 170, 4.50), from Irving MacArthur (Texas), denies a leader, but favors Florida, LSU, Arkansas and Texas Tech. All of his favorites have offered, plus several others. He says that the Gators are recruiting him the hardest. "They pass the ball a lot, but are still well-rounded," Brooks said. "They have really good coaches that seem to always call the right plays. They beat Arkansas this weekend which is pretty impressive and I think they'll do well in the national championship.
"I knew Florida would be good and LSU is always pretty solid, but Arkansas is the team that surprised me the most," Brooks said. "Even though they lost to Florida they still had a great year and did a lot better than people thought they would. I think they have a great future. They run a bunch of different formations and they have great playmakers."
Brooks visited the Razorbacks on November 11. He also visited Texas Tech on November 18 when the Red Raiders took on Oklahoma State. Texas Tech safeties coach Carlos Mainord was at Brooks' house last Monday (November 22). "We talked about their offense and how much they pass. He also talked with me about their grad rates and academic support."
His next in-home visit is this Wednesday (December 6) from LSU wide receiver coach Todd Monken. Brooks visits the Tigers officially on January 17.
"I'll set up my visit to Florida in January and hopefully I'll be able to decide just before signing day," Brooks said. "The three things that I'll be focusing on are: depth chart, academics and coaches."
He reports a 3.0 core GPA and an 18 ACT.
