Danorris Searcy (LB/S, Dectur, GA) - A while back's #9 nationally rated WLB DaNorris Searcy committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels, but when NC fired their head coach, he started looking elsewhere while still including them in his list of favorites.

After Searcy's official visit this weekend to Ole Miss, he says the Rebels and Tar Heels are neck-and-neck for his services, but he still has Virginia Tech and Florida left to visit.

"I loved it at Ole Miss. The visit went real good. I didn't know Ole Miss has several freshmen All-Americans and how much Coach O (Ed Orgeron) believed in playing his best players, no matter what their age is. That is enticing to me," Da' Norris Searcy noted from his home shortly after arriving in Decatur after his Ole Miss visit. "It's a great environment there. The graduation rate of football players is good, the academics are good and the football facilities are first class. I like that everything we (football players) need is under one roof."

Searcy, who will visit Tech and the Gators in January and will have his official visit with NC next weekend, "hung out" with senior FS Charles Clark and "several more players."

"You could tell they were tight. I liked that," he said. "I want to be on a team that is close-knit and Ole Miss has that working for them."

Searcy, who was recently named All-County and All-Area from his senior accomplishments at Towers, was a RB and OLB/S in high school.

"I ran for 1608 yards with 16 TDs this year and on defense I had 81 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 1 interception," said DaNorris, who was weighed and measured at Ole Miss at 5-11 ¾ and 191 pounds. (With his 4.41 40 speed, he is projected as a safety.)

DaNorris, who is being recruited by Rebel TE Coach Hugh Freeze, met with Coach O this morning.

"Coach O told me what he was looking for in a player and showed me how he felt I could help th program. He didn't push me, he just told me that whenever I was ready to make my decision, to let him know," DaNorris said. "I appreciated that because my recruitment has been kind of hectic with the changing of coaches at North Carolina and I don't need any pressure."

DaNorris said he is going to take his time deciding his future.

Danorris had over 1, 500 yards rushing and 71 tackles this season.
