Here are the initial Scout.com National Team Recruiting Rankings. The University of Texas claims the top spot in the land but can they hang on with Florida, Georgia, Michigan and USC charging hard towards the Longhorns?

The Scout.com National team recruiting rankings are out! These rankings factor in our expanded offensive line and linebacker position rankings. Check back every day, as the rankings are updated with the previous day's commitments.

With that said, here are the rankings as Texas checks in at No. 1. Not a surprise, especially after the incredible start the Longhorns had back in the spring. You want surprises, how about Georgia Tech coming in at No. 4.

Now the question is can anyone catch Mack Brown and UT? Watch out for the Gators, Trojans, Bulldogs, and Wolverines as the amazing recruiting race heads down the stretch.

1) Texas
It's Texas in a landslide. But that's right now and Signing Day is nine weeks away. Can and will the Longhorns still be No. 1 on National Signing Day? I am sure Mack Brown could care less because regardless of where they finish Texas will bring in another great haul to Austin that includes quarterback John Brantley (Ocala, Fla), wide receivers John Chiles (Arlington, Texas) and Malcolm Williams (Garland, Texas), tight end Blaine Irby (Ventura, Calif.), offensive linemen Tray Allen (Grand Prairie, Texas) and Michael Huey (Kilgore, Texas), defensive tackle Andre Jones (El Paso, Texas), defensive end Russell Carter (Houston, Texas), and cornerbacks Ben Wells (Beaumont, Texas) and Curtis Brown (Gilmer, Texas).

2) Florida
The Gators have been a hot team in the recruiting battles since Urban Meyer arrived in Gainesville and this season is no different. The Gators are once again stockpiling a ton of talent led by quarterback Cam Newton (Atlanta, Ga.), wide receivers Joe Haden (Fort Washington, Md.) and Chris Rainey (Lakeland, Fla.), tight end Aaron Hernandez (Bristol, Ct.), offensive linemen Michael and Markice Pouncey (Lakeland, Fla.), defensive tackle Torrey Davis (Seffner, Fla.), and cornerbacks Ahmad Black (Lakeland, Fla.) and DeMarcus Van Dyke (Miami, Fla.) are all some big time recruits headed to Gainesville. They will challenge Texas, USC and others for the nation’s top recruiting class.

3) Georgia
To no one’s surprise the University of Georgia finds itself in the top five. The Dawgs will load up once again with players like quarterback Logan Gray (Columbia, Mo.), running back Caleb King (Norcross, Ga.) wide receiver Israel Troupe (Tifton, Ga.), tight end Aron White (Columbia, Mo.), offensive linemen Antwane Greenlee (Columbus, Ga.) and Trinton Sturdivant (Wadesboro, N.C.), linebacker Rennie Curran (Snellville, Ga.) and safety John Knox (Statesboro, Ga.).

4) Georgia Tech
Surprise, surprise. Georgia Tech finds itself in the top five in the national team recruiting rankings and they are the big surprise this season in terms of recruiting. Georgia Tech should only bring in around 18 prospects or so, so they are just about done. Quarterbacks Josh Nesbitt (Greensboro, Ga.) and Steven Threet (Adrian, Mi.), running backs Jonathan Dwyer (Marietta, Ga.) and Roddy Jones (Chamblee, Ga.), offensive lineman Nick Claytor (Gainesville, Ga.), defensive end Derrick Morgan (Coatesville, Pa.), linebacker Brad Jefferson (McDonough, Ga.), safety D.J. Donley (Folkston, Ga.) and cornerback Cedric Everson (Detroit, Mi.) are all headed to Atlanta.

5) Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech got most of their commitments within a month over the summer. This group headed to Blacksburg is led by quarterback Tyrod Taylor (Hampton, Va.), running back Darren Evans (Indianapolis, In), offensive tackle Will Alvarez (Woodbridge, Va.), linebacker Hunter Owens (Sarasota, Fla.), safety Davon Morgan (Richmond, Va.) and cornerback D.J. Thomas (Ashland, Va.)

6) Michigan
The Wolverines will capitalize on their big season with a stellar recruiting class. Quarterback Ryan Mallett (Texarkana, Texas), fullback Vince Helmuth (Saline, Mi.), wide receivers Toney Clemons (New Kensington, Pa.), Martell Webb (Pontiac, Mi.), J.R. Hemmingway (Conway, S.C.), and Zion Babb (Alhambra, Calif.), center Dave Molk (Lemont, Ill.), defensive end Ryan Van Bergen (Whitehall, Mi.), and safety Jerimy Finch (Indianapolis, In.) are the headliners in this "offensive class." Don’t worry, Michigan will grab some great defensive prospects between now and National Signing Day.

7) USC
Depending on how the (scholarship) numbers shake out could determine whether the Trojans win the mythical recruiting national championship once again. Then again, the numbers may not matter if USC keeps this pace. Four of their nine commitments are from five star prospects and four are four star prospects. That's star power. The list includes quarterbacks Aaron Corp (Orange, Calif.) and Samson Szakacsy (Camarillo, Calif.), running backs Marc Tyler (Westlake Village, Calif.) and Broderick Green (Little Rock, Ark.), offensive linemen Martin Coleman (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and James Wilson (St. Augustine, Fla.), defensive end Michael Reardon (Orange, Calif.), linebackers Chris Galippo (Anaheim, Calif.) and Jordan Campbell (Norco, Calif.) and safety Marshall Jones (Westlake Village, Calif.). Will the Trojans hang on to Green? USC will close with a flurry and make a run at the top spot.

8) Auburn
Tommy Tuberville’s Auburn Tigers are rolling off the field with what could be their best class in a while. AU is roaring with quarterback Kodi Burns (Fort Smith, Ar.), running back Enrique Davis (Lynn Haven, Fla.), tight end Bailey Woods (Marietta, Ga.), center Ryan Pugh (Hoover, Al.), defensive tackle Josh Chapman (Hoover, Al.), linebacker Eltoro Freeman (Alexander City, Al.), and safety Jonnie Dixon (Belle Glade, Fla.).

9) Notre Dame
Charlie Weis is going to finish with a very good class and this group will be led by quarterback Jimmy Clausen (Westlake Village, Calif), the nation’s top quarterback prospect. Running back Armando Allen (Hialeah, Fla.), wide receiver Duval Kamara (Hoboken, N.J.), tight end Mike Ragone (Cherry Hill, N.J.), offensive tackle Emeka Nwankwo (Hollywood, Fla.), defensive ends Justin Trattou (Ramsey, N.J.) and Kerry Neal (Bunn, N.C.), linebacker/wide receiver Greg Little (Durham, N.C.) and cornerback Gary Gray (Columbia, S.C.) are some other standouts headed to South Bend. Watch out, the Irish are picking up recruiting steam.

10) Tennessee
The Vols are back in the top 10 and should close well and move even higher between now and Signing Day. So far they have some big commitments from prospects like running back Gerald Jones (Oklahoma City, Ok.), wide receiver Brett Vinson (Chatham, Va.), offensive tackle and Darris Sawtelle (Bloomfield, Mi.).
