Three-star tailback/fullback William Anderson (5-11, 220, 4.65), from St. Louis Hazelwood East (Mo.), saved the best for last. Playing in his final senior season game Anderson rushed for a career best 207 yards and one touchdown on 21 rushes against Class 5 No. 1 ranked St. Louis McClure. Hazelwood East finished the year with an 8-2 record and Anderson had a total of 118 carries, 964 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Unfortunately, Anderson now has to admit that several schools seem to have stopped recruiting him. "Missouri pulled my offer because I didn't commit fast enough and they had a couple other running backs commit," Anderson said.
"Nebraska says that I'm still on their list, but they don't seem too interested," Anderson said. "I don't hear from them a lot and last time I talked with them they said they'd talk to me in January."
Currently, the only offer that Anderson knows he has for sure is from Northern Iowa. "I took an official visit there last weekend (December 2)," Anderson said. "It was fun. I really liked the campus and the facilities. I was impressed with what they had and it seemed pretty good for a DIAA school. I also liked how close together everything was. It's a pretty small campus and it has a good atmosphere.
"They said that I'm the main guy they are looking for and that I'm the only running back they've offered this year."
With many of Anderson's favorite schools backing off, he says he plans to take all his time. "If I don't hear from anyone else I'll commit to Northern Iowa," Anderson said. "But I want to wait and see what else happens. I'm not going to commit anywhere until signing day."
Another school that Anderson hopes he's able to attract is Northern Illinois. "I just sent them some film and we'll see if they offer," Anderson said. "They have a good program and play DI football."
He reports a 2.8 core GPA and is taking the ACT on December 9.
