Johnathan Frink (LB, Oxford, MS) - Mississippi's top uncommitted prospect has been receiving interest from some new schools recently.

"Coach Pannunzio from Miami came to our school the week before the dead period started. We sat down and watched some film together, and he told me I was good enough to play at Miami and that he wanted to bring back the film for the new staff to watch. He is suppose to be getting back in touch with me when they get back from their Christmas vacation," added the 6' 2", 230 pound Johnathan Frink.

Have anymore schools come into the picture lately?

"Air Force just offered me. Coach Burton recruiting my brother when he was at Indiana. They made an offer, and I might go on an official visit up there."

Which colleges have now offered Frink a scholarship?

"Man, that is tough to remember. The ones who are still actively recruiting me who have offered are Ole Miss, MSU, USM, South Carolina, Alabama, Air Force, Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Kentucky. There are some more who have offered me, but they have not called me in a while."

Out of this group of colleges, who is Frink the most interested in?

"Ole Miss, Indiana, Kentucky, Stanford, and Air Force."

Frink had a chance to take in an official visit to Kentucky before the dead period started and had a good trip.

"It went real well. I got a chance to watch a practice for their bowl game, and I also got a chance to hang out with their guys. Wesley Woodyard was my player host. He was real insightful."

Frink is very serious with his academics as he currently carries a 3.8 Core GPA and a 25 on the ACT. The Engineering programs with each university he is visiting will play a major role in his decision.

"Academics is always going to be very important with me. Sooner or later I will have to stop playing football and go get a real job. That is what it all boils down to, how much will that degree mean to me when I graduate."

Kentucky's Engineering program was very impressive.

"I learned they have a great Traffic Engineering program. They have great facilities and a tremendous lab for their research at Kentucky. Their degree means a lot, so I can get a nice job when I get out of school."

Johnathan also took in an official visit to his home town college, Ole Miss, in early December. How did the Kentucky and Ole Miss Engineering programs compare?

"They are both quality programs. There are not any major differences. The views of their engineering programs are basically the same. Their degrees both mean a lot. Kentucky's facilities were just nice, and Ole Miss' facilities were nice too."

Where will Frink visit next?

"I go to Stanford on January 12th, and I am going to Indiana on January 26th. I am talking to Coach Burton about getting one set up with Air Force on January 19th, but that's not official yet."

Does Frink have a leader yet?

"Ole Miss is still in front. Nothing has really changed."

Have the Rebels asked Johnathan to commit?

"They have not actually asked me too, but I know that is what they are thinking. Coach Orgeron said he wants me to be a Rebel, but he wants to make sure that it is the right decision for me."

Does Frink feel the local pressure to ink with Ole Miss?

"Somewhat when I am on their campus, but most of the people just want what is is best for me. They have been watching me play ball since middle school, so they just want is right for me."

The Oxford Chargers finished their season at 9-3 and fell short of their preseason goal which was to win the Class 4A championship, but Frink still feels like they accomplished a lot during his senior season.

"To me the season went well. It did not end up as expected, but we had a chance to win State. Our defense played well. I am glad I got a chance to play with those guys. I think we turned out pretty good. We just fell a little short of our ultimate goal."

Johnathan finished the season with 104 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble despite of missing 3 games with a banged up shoulder. For his accomplishments, Frink was named 1st Team All-State by the Clarion Ledger.

"Basically, I learned to just slow things down. I was not coming in there and just trying to make the big hit because I know that will not work on the next level. I slowed things down a lot this year. It really helped me out."
