Two-star cornerback Jamaine Olson (5-10.5, 165, 4.55), from Portland Jesuit (Ore.), helped lead his team to the 6A state championship with a 56-7 victory over Southridge in the finals. Olson finished his senior season with over 50 tackles and two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. He also had five touchdowns receiving.
Olson favors Stanford solidly over Oregon State, UNLV and Hawaii, but the Cardinal are still his only offer. "Oregon State and UNLV have both talked with me about a scholarship," Olson said. "They know that I really like Stanford and they just want to see how interested I am in them. They said they would probably offer me during my official visit."
He'll be visiting UNLV on Jan. 19 and Oregon State on Jan. 26. His first official visit is next weekend (Jan. 12) to Stanford. "I was supposed to visit them on Dec. 8, but had to reschedule because that was the weekend of our championship game."
Olson admits there's a "75-80 percent" chance that he'll commit to the Cardinal. "I've talked with the new head coach (Jim Harbaugh) and he seems like a really nice guy," Olson said. "I'm excited to go and meet him because I've heard such great things about him. Also, I'm really looking forward to hearing what he has planned for them and what kind of changes he'll be making there. Hopefully, he'll be able to get them back on the right track.
"I'm hoping to make my decision by the end of the month," Olson said. "I want to see what else happens."
He reports a 3.5 core GPA and a 1590 SAT (new version).
