San Antonio, Texas—Most assume that Ohio kids will always choose Ohio State and for most of the week all of the talk in town was that Ben Martin would be a Buckeye. If anyone were to pick another team that could possibly land Martin it would be Notre Dame, right?

Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle defensive end Ben Martin, 6-foot-5, 235-pounds was expected by many to choose the Ohio State Buckeyes or Notre Dame, but as is this case in recruiting nothing is for certain. Today, Martin pulled a stunner when he chose the Tennessee Volunteers over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida.

The talk in town this week had Martin penciled in as a Buckeye. Most figured Notre Dame may be tough to beat because of his mother residing in Gary, Indiana. Most had overlooked the Vols.

Martin, however decided today at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that he would play for Phillip Fulmer and the Vols.
