Three-star defensive tackle Jeff Boyd (6-3, 280, 5.2), from Warren Central in Indianapolis (Ind.), says he favors Michigan slightly over Kentucky, West Virginia, Mississippi and Indiana, but the Wolverines haven't offered yet. He says that all of his other favorites have.
"Michigan is still unsure about my grades," Boyd said. "I'm confident I'll make it. Right now I have a 2.0 GPA and I score a 14 on my ACT and 700 on the SAT. Some schools have suggested I go to a prep school or something, but I don't think I'll do that."
Boyd is visiting the Wolverines on Jan. 26. He already visited West Virginia and had a great time during his trip. "It was a lot of fun," Boyd said. "I liked the town a lot. It's very into football and into the team. They were going crazy that weekend because that was when they thought that coach Rod (head coach Rich Rodriguez) was going to leave. It was really exciting and they were really happy that he didn't leave. He means a lot to that program."
This weekend (Jan. 12) Boyd is tripping to Indiana and then he visits Kentucky on Jan. 19. His final official trip is to Mississippi on Feb. 2.
"I really like Michigan," Boyd said. "They have great tradition and are a winning team. They just know how to win."
