Since the first time we spoke with Pete Rolf during the summer, he's always mentioned Oregon as his favorite school. Although the Ducks are still his top choice, he admits that a new school has entered the picture. That would be Ball State. The Cardinals started recruiting him in December and he says they've been after him the hardest ever since.

Linebacker/defensive back Pete Rolf (6-4, 220, 4.65), from Piqua, Ohio, has narrowed his choices to Ball State, Oregon and Cincinnati. He visited Ball State on Jan 12 and heads to Oregon on Jan 19. Rolf said he's also planning a mid-week trip to Cincinnati on Jan 23 because he'll be playing basketball on the weekend of Jan 26.

"I was originally supposed to visit Oregon on Jan. 6, but I had to reschedule because I had two basketball games that weekend," Rolf said. "I'm really looking forward to the visit. I have some family up there so it should be a lot of fun. Plus, I can't wait to check out the facilities and everything."

Rolf claims offers from Oregon and Ball State and thinks Cincinnati will offer soon. "They just got a new coaching staff and they seem really interested," Rolf said. "I think they'll offer me during my visit."

He also used to have an offer from Toledo, but says the Rockets have stopped recruiting him.

The latest school to jump on the Rolf-bandwagon is Ball State, who weren't in his top five a month ago. "They've come on really strong since December," Rolf said. "The coaches are great and they are showing me a lot of love. The came to my house, my school…they call and write a lot too. They are recruiting me the hardest.

"I really wasn’t expecting much before I took my visit there, but I really liked it," Rolf said. "It was great. I thought it would be a small town in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do, but it was the total opposite. It was really a great time. I like how they stress academics. I talked with the players about it and they even said that it's really important and the coaches really care about that kind of stuff."

Heading into his weekend trip to Eugene, Oregon leads just slightly over Ball State and Cincinnati. "I'll commit once I'm comfortable," Rolf said. "It could be after my visits or on Signing Day. I'll just see how it goes."

He reports a 3.3 core GPA and a 17 ACT.
