Safety James Thomas (6-0, 182, 4.55), from La Marque (Texas), is almost ready to make his decision and it looks like he may be heading to Arkansas. He took his official visit to Fayetteville on Jan. 19.
"It was awesome," said the Scout.com three-star prospect. "I really enjoyed it. They impressed me a lot. It wasn't just one thing that stood out overall everything was really good. I liked getting to hang out with all the players and we got to go to the Arkansas/LSU basketball game. That was a lot of fun.
"I also really liked the stadium," Thomas said. "It's big and the atmosphere is crazy during a game. The coaches are very cool and they seem smart and hard-working. They get on you when you mess up and know what they are doing."
Thomas says that there's a 75 percent chance that he'll pick Arkansas. "Coach Houston Nutt is coming by my house on either Wednesday or Thursday and I think I'll commit then."
He also has an official visit scheduled to Oklahoma State on Jan. 26, but says he'll cancel it if he commits to Arkansas.
"Oklahoma State has a young program that is coming up," Thomas said. "They seem to have great team chemistry, but I don't know much about them and that's why I kind of want to take that visit. But I also want to get everything over with and that's why I'm leaning to committing this week."
He also visited Kansas State on Nov. 12.
Thomas reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 23 ACT.
