Florida DL Keeping Busy
"I'm still committed to Florida but I'm keeping my options open," Jay Howard said. "I've been on four visits already and I have my last one to Florida this weekend. I go tomorrow." Howard, 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, played in the local All-Star game after his senior season ended. "I was the Defensive MVP of that game," he said. "I'm still playing basketball now. After that, I'll start working out real hard for next football season." Howard, who's fully qualified academically, tripped to Auburn this past weekend and came away impressed. "I really enjoyed my visit there," he said. "It was nice. I hung out mostly with Quentin Groves, who was my host. I really liked the atmosphere there and the depth chart opportunity. I can go in and compete for a starting spot right away." Howard has also taken visits to Wake Forest, Rutgers, and Florida State. "I enjoyed those," he said. "I'm just trying to figure out what's best for me." The talented defender has been busy hosting coaches at home lately as well. "Bobby Bowden came to my house last night," he said. "Greg Schiano is coming over tonight. It's been pretty busy."
