The Latest News with Jerry Franklin
"It went all right," Jerry Franklin said from Marion, (Ark.). "It was fine. Nothing concerned me. I liked everything. I liked the business center. I liked the coaches. They were all fine. I'm finished visiting." Scout.com asked if the visit firmed up his soft verbal to the Razorbacks. "I'm still looking at Ole Miss," Franklin said. "I like the coaches down there too." The 6-3, 215-pound safety/wide receiver told us both schools would want him at the safety position. Franklin's large frame doesn't slow him down as he is clocked in 4.5-forty speed. Scout.com spoke with Marion head coach Mark Uhiren about Franklin. "Ole Miss was on him hard and heavy since he was a junior actually," Uhiren said. "They were the first ones to actually offer. He didn't respond to them, but they stayed after him. The other day a coach from Alabama called, and they were interested in seeing tape of him. We haven't put it together yet and sent it." "Alabama just wanted some tape and wanted to just talk to me a few minutes about him. I think it was more because coach Saban has the staff touching base with all these kids that haven't committed. I think he was just trying to steal one," coach Uhiren laughed. "Arkansas is looking at him for defense. He is more of an outside linebacker, strong safety type, maybe a rover or a corner. He wants to play in the secondary is what he wants." "Memphis has been after him too as a receiver, and they had talked to him several times. Coach Fitchner talked to him. My gut feeling on that is that Jerry is not going to go to Memphis. I think it will be either Ole Miss or Arkansas." Scout.com asked Franklin the determining factors of his decision. "That's a tough one," he said. "I will make my decision on February 7th." Franklin will announce his decision at his school on National Signing Day.
