Jones Adds Major Offer
Andrew Jones, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound athlete from Smithville High in Mo., will be one of the Midwest's most highly recruited players. Today he received a huge honor when he picked up an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. "Nebraska just offered me today," Jones began. "They actually sent me a text message, and had me call them." "They were out and saw my game film while scouting some other players. They watched three game tapes that I was on and were asking who I was. After watching the tape, they decided to put an offer out there for me. "I have already went up for an unofficial visit to a game, and it was very nice," Jones continued. "It is a school that I have solid interest in. I know that they run the West Coast offense, and they use the tight end a lot." Jones not only got a huge offer today, but he was also at Kansas for a junior day. While on campus he got to watch the Jayhawks hand it to Colorado 97-73 on the hardwood at Allen Fieldhouse. "It was a really good experience," Jones said. "I have never been to Lawrence (Ks.) before. The atmosphere was amazing. If the football fans are excited as the basketball fans, then I know it would be fun to play in front of them." "I was also amazed at the weight room. I guess it is brand new. It was enormous." Jones now holds early offers from Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma. He also reports an early interest in Clemson. Jones finished his junior year with 50 catches for 612 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, he racked up 45 tackles, eight sacks, one interception, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles.
