The only state with a pair of five-star signal callers, Jimmy Clausen and Aaron Corp lead the list of the top passers in the Golden State in the class of 2007...

The Class of 2007 has quite possibly the best 1-2 punch of California quarterbacks in some time. Everyone knows about Clausen but Corp had arguably the better season and was named the California Player of the Year after a remarkable 2006 season. Forcier and Lindley were the top signal-callers in America’s Finest City and had a memorable dual in the San Diego Section playoffs. Szakacsy suffered an early season injury but battled back. Stangel, Fouch and the other Clausen represented the Inland Empire well. Murdaca was NorCal’s best.

1. Jimmy Clausen, 6-3, 195, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian- Notre Dame
The top quarterback in the nation ended his prep career with a 43-0 record.

2. Aaron Corp, 6-4, 185, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran- USC
Showed his value in the playoffs. The best dual-threat QB in the nation and may end up as the best player from this class.

3. Chris Forcier, 6-3, 175, San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine- UCLA
After slow start, caught fire at the end and led Saints to second straight San Diego title.

4. Chasen Stangel, 6-2, 185, San Jacinto (Calif.)- Arizona State
Prolific senior season deservedly put him in the Pac-10.

5. Ronnie Fouch, 6-2, 185, Redlands (Calif.) East Valley- Washington
Didn’t duplicate his near-perfect junior year but had a fine senior campaign.

6. Ryan Lindley, 6-4, 205, Lakeside (Calif.) El Capitan- San Diego State
The Aztecs will love the hometown kids strong arm and moxie.

7. Samson Szakacsy, 6-5, 195, Camarillo (Calif.)- USC
Sidelined with an early season leg injury, Szakascy battled back to put Scorpions in CIF playoffs.

8. Dan Klein, 6-3, 190, Anaheim (Calif.) Servite- UCLA
Had offers to play quarterback from all over the West Coast but chose to sign a baseball scholarship with the Bruins, putting his football career at least two years on hold.

9. Pete Murdaca, 6-2, 190, Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary’s
The top quarterback in Northern California, Murdaca is poised and polished.

10. Michael Clausen, 6-3, 200, Riverside (Calif.) J.W. North- UNLV
Didn’t have the national spotlight like the other Clausen, but he too led his team to a perfect season.

The Next 10:

12. Tim Lang, 6-0, 190, Sacramento (Calif.) Grant- Fresno State
