"The coaches came by the school today. Coach asked me if I was ready to commit. I told him I was ready to be a Mississippi State Bulldog," said Jamie. "They are going to meet with my parents this evening and go over everything, but it's a done deal. My parents and I have already talked about everything."
Jamie has had several schools contact him since he made his qualifying score on the ACT, but Jones says he will take no other visits. He reports his college recruitment is over.
"At one point it was all kind of shakey, with my grades not being where they needed to be," explained Jamie. "I happy that it's all over with now, so I can just focus on school. I am looking forward to getting down there this summer and having a chance to play in the SEC."
For Jamie the road to his college commitment has had several ups and downs. Now that his decision is made, the talented linebacker is happy with the end result.
"I don't think it could have been much better to be honest," said Jones. "I guess it could have been a lot bigger and crazier if I had my ACT score earlier. I could still be sitting here not knowing where I want to go. It feels good that it's all over with. I am very happy. I am going to a great school, a great program with great coaches.
Jones chose the Bulldogs over offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky and Ole Miss.
