Ohio State generally has a stranglehold on Glenville High School (Cleveland, Ohio), but Notre Dame…
Fletcher Arrives on the Scene
Donnie Fletcher III, a 6-foot-0, 170-pound defensive back from Glenville Academy in Cleveland, Ohio held his own at the U.S. Army Junior Combine that was held in San Antonio, Texas in early January. Fletcher has already racked up his first official scholarship offer, and is hearing from a wide variety of college programs. "At this time I have only one offer from Bowling Green," Fletcher informed Scout.com. "I am really interested in most of the Big 10 schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. I am also interested in Boston College." "It made me feel good to get that first offer from Bowling Green. I know that I have worked hard to get to this point, so it makes me feel good to know that the hard work is paying off." Fletcher could play either offense or defense on the next level, but he does not care where he plays as long as he can make his mark on the field. "I do not prefer any position really," Fletcher said. "Wherever I get recruited at, is where I am going to play at." Many players talk about their physical skills when asked about their strengths, but Fletcher believes it is important to be prepared. "I believe my work ethic separates me from a lot of other players, because I know I work way harder that most of the players in the state, and I know that it is going to get me far in life," Fletcher surmised. It would be easy for a Glenville football player to look up to players like Troy Smith or Ted Ginn, but Fletcher tries to pattern himself after someone closer. "I really look up to my Uncle (Allen Fletcher). He was the first person to go to college in our family, and I look up to him," Fletcher said of the reasons that his uncle is an inspiration on and off the field.
