Christian Tupou (6-2, 270, 4.95), from Grant Union High School in Sacramento, Calif., just returned from his official visit to USC.
"I'm still in the thinking process," Tupou said. "If I had to pick a top three, I'd say Fresno State, Oregon State and USC. But I haven't had enough time to think about where I'll go. I could also go to BYU or ASU. I have a strong relationship with the coaches at Fresno State and Oregon State. They've been recruiting me hard since last year. USC has only been recruiting me for about a week.
"My host at USC was Fili Moala (junior defensive tackle). We went bowling, played arcades and also saw Hollywood. That was the best part of the trip - seeing Hollywood, the sign and everything. I liked the whole Hollywood scene, from the stars on the sidewalks to the big theatres to the Hollywood sign.
"The coach I talked with the most was coach (Nick) Holt (defensive coordinator)," he said. "He's a guy who will always push you to get that extra effort. They want me at defensive tackle.
"Of all the trips I have taken (BYU, California, Nebraska, USC), I'd say BYU was the best one. I just got back and turned on the Super Bowl. Now I've got two days to figure out what I'll do. This is something that will develop over the next two days. I don't think anybody has the best chance, really.
"We'll just have to see," Tupou said. "USC is just another school to consider. They said for me to call them tomorrow. They'd like to speak with my parents.
"I'll sign my letter-of-intent on Wednesday. My coach will handle how it all comes out."
Tupou reports a 3.8 core GPA and a 970 SAT. "I'm already qualified. That's what all the coaches tell me."
