USC and UCLA both end up with one of the top two ends and one of the top two tackles on the defensive side of the ball in California, while Oregon, Washington, Fresno State, Boise State and San Diego State also have excellent hauls from the Golden State...

Harris and Price. Price and Harris. The two have flip-flopped in the rankings all year long. Price was first, than Harris, than Price again. You can’t go wrong with either one. The Huskies get a nice duo in Wood and Duncan while the Broncos add two in Nisby and Tivao. In fact, the WAC had a great run on defensive tackles in California in this class.

1. Brian Price, 6-3, 270, Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw
Committed to: UCLA
The two-time Coliseum League Defensive Player of the Year for the Cougars, hopes to have the same success that former Crenshaw star Brandon Mebane did in college.

1. Da'John Harris, 6-4, 260, Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Committed to: USC
Harris is one of the most athletic d-lineman in the nation and will fit in well with Everson Griffin.

3. Nick Wood, 6-2.5, 275, Poway (Calif.)
Committed to: Washington
The strongest player in the state, Wood had offers from all over the country.

4. Porter Hill, 6-4, 280, Compton (Calif.)
Committed to: Fresno State
Should be a nice run-stuffer up the middle for Pat Hill’s Bulldogs.

5. Tonio Celotto, 6-3, 250, Piedmont (Calif.)
Committed to: Oregon
Move to Bay Area didn’t stop him from having a big senior season.

6. John Nisby, 6-2, 260, Sacramento (Calif.) Grant
Committed to: Boise State
Pound-for-pound may be the toughest offensive lineman in the state but the Broncos envision him as a defensive lineman.

7. Tyrone Duncan, 6-2, 290, Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake
Committed to: Washington
Could be a guard in college but wants to play on defense.

8. Hans Philipp, 6-1, 282, San Bernardino (Calif.) Arroyo
Committed to: Arizona
Will give his older brother Paul company on the defensive line in Tucson.

9. Johnny Tivao, 6-2, 315, Paramount (Calif.)
Committed to: Boise State
The heart and soul of Paramount’s team, Tivao is a gutty player who has a mean streak.

10. Fred Koloto, 6-3, 270, Palo Alto (Calif.)
Committed to: San Jose State
Excelled on both sides of the ball and big reason for Palo Alto’s appearance in California Division II Championship game.

The Next 5:

11. Lei Talamaivao, 6-3, 270, Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.)
12. Chase Baker, 6-3, 265, Rocklin (Calif.)- Boise State
13. Zack Madonick, 6-2, 275, Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley- Nevada
14. Justin Landseadel, 6-1.5, 255, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian- Air Force
15. Charles Brallier, 6-2, 315, Elk Grove (Calif.)

The top four defensive ends could all start their careers at different positions, that’s how versatile they are. Ayers will likely start at linebacker until he adds weight but he reminds many of current Bruin Bruce Davis. Reardon is probably the best two-way lineman in the state, hands down and will play on the offensive line for the Trojans. Rowe will start at linebacker for the Ducks but as he puts on weight, will move back to end. Tuihalamaka probably ends up at backer too. Lemmens and Ebbitt were the best end tandem in the state this year and both were studs on the offensive line too for Oaks Christian.

1. Akeem Ayers, 6-3, 220, Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei
Committed to: UCLA
Bounced back from injury to have a monster senior year and only a move to linebacker prevented him from breaking the state career sack record.

2. Michael Reardon, 6-6, 253, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran
Committed to: USC
The Trinity League lineman of the year, Reardon will take his tough, aggressive play to the offensive side of the ball for the Trojans.

3. Kenny Rowe, 6-3, 220, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
Committed to: Oregon
Arguably the best pass-rusher in the state, Rowe gives the Ducks an imposing presence in the front seven.

4. Apaiata Tuihalamaka, 6-3, 220, Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Committed to: Arizona
Despite an injury-plagued senior year, Tuihalamaka is a talent and he’ll play with his cousin Vuna in college.

5. Duke Lemmens, 6-5, 240, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Committed to: Florida
The CIF Defensive Player of the Year for the state champs, Lemmens heads across the country to play for the national champs.

6. Christian Tupou, 6-2, 260, Sacramento (Calif.) Grant
The top defensive end in Northern California, Tupou was a big part of Grant’s perfect season.

7. Mike Ebbitt, 6-5, 250, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Committed to: Texas A&M
Played opposite Lemmens on defensive line and offensive line and was every bit a factor for the Lions.

8. Dominic Glover, 6-4, 240, Mission Viejo (Calif.)
Committed to: Oregon
Another in a long line of outstanding Diablo defenders.

9. Justin Edison, 6-4, 235, Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei
Committed to: UCLA
Upside is high for former basketball player, in only his second year of football.

10. Eron Moses, 6-5, 220, Anaheim (Calif.) Esperanza- San Diego State
Committed to: San Diego State
Like Edison, only played two years of football after being a hoopster first.

The Next 5:

11. Kyle Bell, 6-4, 225, Mt. Whitney (Calif.) Visalia- Oregon State
12. Michael Snead, 6-4, 240, Oakland (Calif.) Skyline- San Diego State
13. Kenneth Borg, 6-3, 235, Los Alamitos (Calif.)- Fresno State
14. Fonomanu Sekona, 6-4, 250, Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger- Idaho
15. Aaron Thomas, 6-3, 250, Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame- Harvard
