Kerry Murphy and Josh Chapman are expected to announce their college football decisions Tuesday…
Kerry Murphy Stays Home
Murphy committed to the University of Alabama the first weekend official visitors arrived on new Tide coach Nick Saban's watch. A side trip to Miami for the Super Bowl was exciting, but the monster lineman will stick with his original pledge. Hoover defensive line coach, Chris Davis, knows Murphy has the potential as a special player at the college level. "Kerry has unlimited potential," Davis stated. "He may be the best ever prospect we have had at Hoover since I have been here and that includes Chad Jackson. You're not going to find many 6-5, 325-pound defensive linemen that are athletic as Kerry. He can do several back flips in a row. That's unreal for a guy his size." "He had an excellent sophomore and junior season. He had knee surgery before his senior season and that kind of slowed him down. He still a great year. Most teams we played against were double and triple teaming him each play, so he didn't have the stats that he would normally have." "Kerry is very close right now, " Davis said of any qualifying issues. "Coach Saban has talked to him about his grades, and he talked to all his teachers to find out what Kerry needs to do. I really think he is going to be able to get him in down there next year. We talked about Hargrave before, but right now I think he won't have to go there."
