Injury Won't Slow Down Florida Safety
Injuries are part of the game, unfortunately, and Jordon Byas found out the hard way in 2006. "I was coming off a good sophomore year and I was real excited about my junior year," Byas said. "Then I tore my ACL real early in the season. It was tough at first but then I learned to accept it and started rehabbing hard and getting ready for a strong senior season." Byas, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, is one of the most talented safety prospects in the Panhandle part of Florida. He doubles as a wide receiver on offense and runs track during the offseasons. "I play receiver too but I wanna play safety in college," he said. "That's my best position. Hopefully I'll show everyone my senior year that I'm still one of the best around." Byas went to Florida State's camp in the summer of 2004 and has been on the recruiting radar ever since. "It's still early," he said. "I'm getting some interest but I know a lot can change. Right now, my top colleges are Florida, LSU, Florida State, and Georgia. I'm trying to find a school that isn't too far from home and one that has a good sports management program." Byas carries a 3.1 GPA and scored a 22 on the ACT.
