Sunshine LB attends OM Jr Day

Ryan Baker (LB, Blountstown, FL) - The 6' 0", 210 pound linebacker who ran a 4.48 at FSU's camp last summer had a chance to view the Ole Miss campus for Jr Day this past Saturday. How did it go?

"I like what they are doing down there. The have nice facilities. Coach David Corrae said you do not have to be a big LB to play at Ole Miss, you just have to be a football player. I liked that a lot," added Ryan Baker.

What stood out the most during Jr Day for the Mr. Finalist in Class 2A?

"Meeting the players and talking to them. They explained to me what it is like to be an Ole Miss Rebel. My mother came with me. She liked the academic part, of course (laugh)."

Was this Ryan's first visit to Ole Miss?

"Yes, to be truthful, I did not really expect anything before I came on the trip. I was just going through the motion, but I was impressed big time. They are not laid back coaches. They are loud and get into it. I liked that a lot. When we started watching their highlight tape, they started jumping up and down and going crazy asking if I was ready to be an Ole Miss Rebel. That got me all fired up. I can not imagine what it is like on game day. I play with a lot of emotion, so I need a staff like that to keep me energized."

What other colleges are recruiting Baker?

"Ole Miss is my only offer so far. They offered me in the middle of my junior year. Auburn is recruiting me the hardest outside of Ole Miss. LSU, Central Florida, and Florida are also recruiting me pretty hard. And I guess you can throw Miami in that mix."

Who stands out?

"Ole Miss and Auburn."

What does Ryan like about Auburn?

"They send me hand written letters almost every day. They send me post cards and stuff like that too. I talk to their DC and LB coach a lot. They are pretty cool."

What stands out about Auburn?

"I like the tradition they have at LB. They are a hard hitting team, and I am real aggressive too. Their schemes fit me."

Will Baker take in anymore Jr Days?

"I will probably go to Auburn's."

What will be the main factors when it comes decision time.

"Their tradition is a big thing for me and their academics are too."

Baker claims a 3.0 Core GPA and will take the SAT/ACT this Spring.
