"Things are going real good," Marty Everett said. "I'm just working hard, training now that it's the offseason." Everett, 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, finished his junior season with 25 tackles and two sacks. "I did OK," he said. "It could have been better. My senior year will be real good." Everett's combination of size, power, and quickness will make him one of the state's top defensive tackle prospects this coming year. He's already being recruited like it. "I've already been offered by Florida and Tennessee," he said. "Those are two schools that I really like along with West Virginia, Florida State, and Auburn." With five schools on his mind, Everett did say that one does have the early edge. "I'd go with Florida at the top," he said. "Earl Everett is my cousin and he played there. I went to their Junior Day and had a lot of fun. It was real nice. They're probably number one on my list." The talented defensive tackle prospect said he has two factors he'll be looking for in a college. "I'm gonna see how hard the players work in the weight room and I wanna play for a winning program," he said. "I'd like to win a championship so I have to look at schools that can do that." Everett carries a 2.0 GPA inside the classroom. "I need to bring that up but I'm working hard and doing what I need to do," he said.
