Mississippi DB talks recruiting
Posted Mar 16, 2007
Drew Cole (DB, Picayune, MS) - Cole had a chance to take in three unofficial visits over the past couple of weeks.
"I went to Ole Miss Jr Day, and then we went over to Auburn for the afternoon and went to LSU the following weekend," added
And the visits will not stop there.
"I am going back to Auburn this weekend and LSU next weekend."
How did the Ole Miss visit go?
"It was good. I met with Coaches Corrao and Orgeron. They have real nice facilities and it is a great school. I grew up an Ole Miss fan because my dad played there and all, but I had never really just toured their facilities like I did that day. They are really nice."
And what stood out the most about the Rebels during the trip?
"I think the excitement from the coaches. They are excited about everything. They are real energetic about everything they do. I think that is great."
What about the Auburn visit?
"It went real good. I met with Coaches Dunn, Muschamp, and Tub. They have great facilities too. I think it is great at Auburn. It is nice. It went real good, real good."
What did Cole enjoy the most about Auburn?
"Their defensive schemes. Me and Coach Muschamp talked about it. If they are running 4 or 5 wideouts, they run a nickel or dime coverage, which puts a lot of DB's in the game. That would give me a chance to play."
"It went good. I watched their scrimmage. I met with Coaches Miles, Henson, Pelene, and Malorie. It went real good. They also have nice facilities, and I got to see my brother. It went real good."
, is a senior TE at LSU. Would it have made LSU more attractive if Mit were still going to be there when Drew was in college?
"Yes, that would have been great. We have always dreamed about playing together, but LSU did not redshirt him because they thought he could help them out as a freshman. If they would have redshirted him, it could have changed my mind."
What stands out about LSU?
"I think they have a great team. They have great tradition. I just think it is a great school."
Drew received his first scholarship offer from Auburn two weeks back and another SEC school added their name to the list.
"Coach Croom (MSU) sent me the official letter last Friday."
Does Drew have any interest in the Dogs?
"I am real interested in them. Hopefully I am going to be able to go on an unofficial visit there sometime soon. I think Coach Croom has them going in the right direction."
Anymore schools showing interest in the All-State performer?
"Georgia has been recruiting me in the last few weeks. Vandy, Florida, and Tennessee have really picked it up recently."
Who does Cole think is closest to offering next?
"I think LSU is the next closest. I am not sure when they are going to offer because I know they are busy with Spring practice, but my visit went real good. Maybe something will happen on my next visit. We shall see."
