Focus '08: Mikel LeShoure
At 6-foot-1, 220-pounds you wouldn't expect Mikel LeShoure to be able to move like he does, but the bruising tailback can also beat you with his feet and athleticism which was evident by the numbers he put up on a soft field in San Antonio. So far the Centennial High School standout has two written offers from Illinois and Kansas. "I like the staff and hang out with a lot of the players at Illinois," LeShoure explained. "Even before they offered me I was down there hanging out with guys like Vontae Davis, Arrelious Benn and Juice Williams. I've been on campus a ton of times now, I can't even count it for you. My best friend is also Mike Locksley Jr. whose dad coaches there, so I know Illinois well." "With Kansas I don't know much about their football program, but I've seen the area," LeShoure said. "I like the atmosphere and the campus setting there, so now I just need to get to know the football side of things a little better." LeShoure has interest from a number of schools right now, but is working hard in the offseason to improve what he feels is the weakest part of his game. "For my size I have good speed, but I need to work even harder at it. I also have good vision and power, but I want to get faster. Four other schools I really like are Ohio State, Florida, Michigan and Maryland." As a junior at Centennial, LeShoure rushed for 2474 yards and 30 touchdowns and was named first team All-Area, All-Conference and All-State. After already participating in the All-American Combine he will most likely also compete in the Scout.com on May 19th in Chicago.
