Over the last few days the Minnesota Golden Gophers have seen their commitment list double when they added verbals from Roszell Gayden and Sam Maresh.
Gayden, a 6-foot-7, 260-pound offensive tackle from Robbinsdale Cooper Senior High in New Hope, Minn., said that playing close to home was among the factors why he decided to commit to Minnesota.

"They are the hometown team. I like the coaches and my parents liked them," Gayden informed GoldenSports.Net.
Minnesota was the first team to offer Gayden, but he was also hearing from several other Division I schools.
Maresh a 6-foot-3, 260-pound middle linebacker picked the Gophers over offers from a host of top division one programs.
As a junior, he racked up 107 tackles last year as he had double-figures tackles in seven of nine games and had nine tackles in the other two games. He had two sacks and one fumble recovery.
Maresh was named to the KARE 11 and Star Tribune All-Metro team and the Pioneer Press Associated Press and Minnesota Vikings All-State teams.
Maresh helped lead Champlin Park to a 8-2 mark last season. The Rebels lost in the second round of the section playoff to Anoka, 34-19, a team that they had beaten in the regular season, 20-16. It was the second straight season that the Rebels lost to Anoka in the postseason.

Trevor Robinson has been making some trips recently. This past Saturday he was in Lincoln to see Nebraska practice. Robinson, a 6-foot-5 and 320 pound lineman from Elkhorn (Nebr.) liked what he saw.
"It went well," Robinson said. "It went really well. It was really more of a scrimmage on Saturday. They didn't do a lot of individual work. It's always cool to see."
This Saturday comes on the heels of Robinson returning from a trip the following weekend. He went to Notre Dame on Friday and had a chance to see some things there that he hadn't before.
"I was at Notre Dame last Friday. That trip also went really well. I got a chance to see a lot of things I hadn't got a chance to see there before. I was there for camp, Michigan game and junior day before."
After Notre Dame it was onto Michigan; the third team that occupies a spot on his leader board. "I actually went to Michigan the day after Notre Dame on Saturday. We just went straight from South Bend to Ann Arbor. That trip was great too."
Robinson has been active lately in making some trips, but he isn't letting the hype of recruiting overwhelm him. "No, not really. To be honest I don't think a lot about recruiting."

Colorado's first commitment in the class of 2008 comes in the form of a JC receiver, Corey Surrency, from state champion El Camino (Calif.) College...
Colorado was the first program to give Surrency an offer and he paid the Buffs staff back with a verbal on Sunday.
“My mom kept drilling into my head that they were the first to offer and that meant a lot,” said Surrency. “So I gave them a call and said I was ready to be a Buffalo.”
Oregon State was the second school to offer Surrency and Oregon was on the verge of extending an offer but an impression that Surrency made on Dan Hawkins and his staff netted that first offer.
“Last year, a whole gang of coaches came to one of our games to check our players out and they saw me play,” said Surrency. “They came into the training room and they offered me a scholarship on the spot and it finally came through.”
As a freshman at El Camino, Surrency had 23 catches for 432 yards and three touchdowns and could be their primary target this fall.
Surrency is already considered by JCFootball.com one of the top receiver prospects in the nation entering the 2007 season.
This fall, Surrency will be a true sophomore and will have three years to play two at Colorado. He said his hope is to leave in December of 2007 but that there is still the possibility he would have to wait until the spring of 2008.
