Saturday Jerel Worthy was ready and willing to go despite the weather. And while he may not be sold on his performance, the offensive linemen he went against know the type of player he is. | |||

One of the top performers Saturday at the Scout.com Cincinnati Combine was Huber Heights Wayne (Ohio)defensive tackle Jerel Worthy. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Worthy proved to be a force during one-on-one drills this past Saturday and left an impression on his fellow campers. But with his performance, Worthy knows much work is still needed.
“I was happy about my performance but know there is still much to be done. I’d worked real hard on using my hands and feel I did a very good job in this area. I was disappointed in getting a lane and falling a few times. I don’t know if it was the wet turf but I need to continue to work on my feet so I can take advantage of using my speed and getting a gap. So working on my foot work is still a key I feel I need to work on. With his performance and highlight tape Worthy has seen college programs take notice and show higher interest. “Coach Forest (Cincinnati) and I have spoken and he said we’re going to talk about a scholarship after the next semester. I’m also hearing from Louisville, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Miami Ohio and Akron. Those would be the main schools showing interest at this time. I was to visit Louisville this past Saturday but felt it was important to see how I’ve been progressing against some good talent.” What sets Worthy apart is his ability to use a quick first step to go with his physical size. He hits the edge hard and attacks before offensive linemen are able to get a grasp on him and plays with a high motor. Saturday he showed Scout.com he’s a prospect to keep an eye on.
