Muhlenburg High wide receiver Vaughn Carraway turned in an All-Combine earning effort at the Scout.com All-American Combine in Randolph, N.J. Soon after the combine, Carraway had secured another BCS scholarship offer.
“Pittsburgh sent me an offer,” Carraway said. “The told me that they would be out to the school to see me sometime in May.”
The 6-2, 170-pound, Carraway, a cousin of former Panther Sam Bryant visited the Panthers practice facility last month for their Blue Chip junior day.
“I liked it there,” he said. “They have a very nice campus.”
Pitt will have some competition in their battle to land the Pennsylvania native. Carraway holds offers from Michigan, Boston College and Connecticut.
“Michigan was really nice,” Carraway explained. “The coaches there were really cool.”

Trinity High four-star middle linebacker Andrew Sweat visited what appear to be his two front-runners over the weekend. The Washington, Pa., native visited Penn State on Friday and Ohio State on Saturday in hopes of narrowing down things a little bit more.
Sweat has visited Penn State in the past, but he felt he didn’t get a tour of everything that he needed to see. On Friday, Sweat ventured back to Happy Valley to see anything that he may have missed on his prior excursions.
“I went up on Friday and I spent a lot of time with the linebackers coach (Ron Vanderlinden) and Tom Bradley,” Sweat explained. “Penn State has really been recruiting me very hard lately. I want to make sure I see everything at the schools I am considering and one thing I had not seen before was the player housing areas, so I looked at them.
“I spent a lot of time talking with Joe Paterno as well. Paul Posluszny was there in the weight room working out, so I had the chance to talk to him a little bit. There were a bunch of former players all around like Michael Robinson and Alan Zemaitis. They were all in town for the spring game.”
On Saturday, Sweat made the short trip to Columbus, Ohio to check out the Ohio State Buckeyes spring game. It was an abbreviated stay, due to a baseball game, but Sweat still enjoyed himself.
“It was awesome there,” Sweat said. “Me, (Mike) Brewster, (Mike) Adams, Jacob (Stoneburner), J.B. (Shugarts) and (Josh) Jenkins walked out onto the field and people started screaming our names and asking us for autographs. Its like they knew everything about all of us.
“I like a lot about Ohio State and I like Penn State,” he said. “I want to play early and I know Ohio State is deep at linebacker. (Dan) Connor and (Sean) Lee won’t be At Penn State much longer, so I think I could play there pretty early.”

Art Forst, 6-foot-8, 305 pounds, visted Notre Dame recently to see what the Irish had to offer him. After the visit it appears that the hometown Rutgers Scarlet Knights are still the team to beat.
“Notre Dame is a very good school,” Forst responded when asked about his impressions from his visit. “It’s classy, traditional… it’s just a great, great school. It has great football. What coach Weis is doing there is very good. He’s building a program and he’s building a program in the right way. He’s doing a great job.
“I met coach Latina and I like coach Latina a lot.,” Forst told Jeff Baumhower of Irisheyes.com “He’s one of the best in the business. He’s a great coach. He recruits me and we have a very good recruiting relationship. This is the first time I’ve seen him in person.”
As much as Forst likes and respects Charlie Weis and John Latina, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano has also made a lasting impression on the Manasquan, N.J., prospect.
“Making my decision will be difficult. I like them all, but Rutgers is my No.1 right now, because home is No.1 for me right now. I’m not someone who needs to be home, but if I had to commit today, it would be there and I know I wouldn’t regret going there.
“The thing about Rutgers is that it could be pretty cool being part of something new,” Forst said. “I feel there is something happening there. There is something new. Its proximity is a plus and a minus; being too close to home and being too close too home.
“I know The coaches and I have a great relationship with the coaches. I like the offensive line coach. He teaches in a way that I understand. He teaches in a way that I can learn, and I like to learn. Coach Schiano and I are similar people and we have very similar values and similar things were interested in.”
