Many Midland / Midwest based programs are basically recruiting the same core of quarterbacks. One player, who is on everyone’s radar, but has yet to reel in his first offer is Rock Bridge gunslinger Jake Morse. As commitments begin to trickle in it will be interesting to see which school strikes first to get the early in with this exciting prospect.

It is apparent that Jake Morse, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback from Rock Bridge High in Columbia, Missouri is going to be a division one quarterback, but the only question right now is where.

Although he has been receiving very heavy interest it is hard for him to narrow down any favorites, because he has yet to reel in his first official scholarship offer.

Programs like Nebraska, Kansas State, Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado are basically recruiting him with the same fervor as they would someone that they have already offered.

“Recruiting is going really good, and it is really starting to heat up,” Morse said as he explained the latest interest he has been receiving.

“It is now the evaluation period and Coach Kevin Cosgrove from Nebraska was in at my school to visit today. I got the chance to say hi and talk with him a little. It is pretty exciting.”

“My coach says that coaches from Colorado, Iowa, and Kansas State will also be coming in to visit.”

Morse was invited to the Kansas State Spring Game, and he was excited about what he saw of from the football program while he was on the campus.

“It was a good experience,” Morse informed. “The atmosphere was amazing. There were like 30,000 fans there. Kansas State has been showing a serious interest in me. Coach Franklin said that he would like to see me come back up and throw in person.”

Morse had a solid performance at the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio earlier this year, and is poised for another strong performance at the Scout.com Combine that will be held in Kansas City on May 14th.

“Jake was very good at the combine (San Antonio), but he is even better and much stronger now” informed Coach Skip Stitzell of the Quarterbacks Edge, who coached the quarterbacks at the Army All-American Combine. “He measured in at 6-foot-2 at a recent junior day. He spins the ball really well and has great footwork.”

“Footwork is the one thing that I work on all of the time,” Jake added. “It starts with the feet. That is one thing coach always works you on. That is probably the main thing that I will work on this summer.”

The summer camp tour will give Morse the opportunity to throw in front of many college coaches for the first time.

“I am very excited to get out there and throw,” Morse said. “I have a combine coming up on May 5th, and I am hoping that I get to show some coaches what I can do. I have been working out at the school with guys like Aron White and Logan Gray, and I feel like things have been going very good.”

As a junior, Morse completed 127-of-201 for 1,508 yards and 15 touchdowns. He added 300 rushing yards with four touchdowns. He was named honorable mention All-State, first-team All-League and first-team All-Area.
