Next Step College Sports and the Barton Football Academy are teaming up for their 2nd Annual Marketing Workout. In our first ever Marketing Workout last year, nearly 100 college coaches were there representing 34 different colleges and universities. This year weíre projecting between 100 - 200 coaches from 50 -100 schools. | |||

New NCAA rules passed last summer prevents college coaches from attending any camps held at Division 1 and Division 1AA schools during viewing period. Our workout will be held at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. The Marketing Workout event is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2007. This date is important because it falls into the legal dates college coaches can come to watch high school athletes workout. NCAA rules allow college coaches to watch an athlete workout only one time between April 15 and May 31. Coaches canít have contact in person with any of these athletes or their parents. Coaches are not allowed to view players on Sundays. In addition, coaches cannot attend a workout/combine that tests the athletes. Our event does not do any testing. The Marketing Workout is very similar to the format of the Barton Football Academy camps. We want each athlete receiving lots of reps, and to let college coaches see how the player moves and plays on the field in a football environment. Greg and Taylor Barton will head the Marketing Workout with assistance from coaches in the Barton Football Academy. The Marketing Workout is for seniors (to be) and we also have a limit on the number of players allowed in each of our three sessions. We will have junior and sophomores (to be) alternates who can sign up on a waiting list. If our maximum numbers are not met by the seniors, then we will put the juniors & sophomores in the workout. Juniors & sophomores can have an excellent learning experience to help them when they are entering their senior year of high school. In addition, they will be seen by the college coaches. The cost for this event is $100 per registrant. This includes a workout t-shirt with the player’s registration number on the front and back (for college coaches to easily identify each player). Each college coach will be given a packet containing the participants’ name, registration number, position, grade, school, grade point average, height, weight, home and cell phone numbers, home mailing address, home email, coach’s name and his contact numbers. Participants will supply that information to us when they register for the event.
