Although the Oregon State is his top choice, Andre Broadous says that Oregon was his favorite team growing up. His dad, James Broadous, attended Oregon and has a local AM talkshow on 1450 in Portland called Broadous Brothers. "He always talks about the Ducks on his show," said his son. "My uncle went to Oregon State and my dad went to Oregon, so they're always arguing on the air.

Andre Broadous, the 5-foot-10.5, 189 pound running back/defensive back from Grant High School in Portland (Ore.), played quarterback as a junior. He finished his junior season with 1933 yards passing and 1150 yards rushing with 42 total touchdowns. Defensively, he had five interceptions.

"I can do it all," Broadous said. "I break tackles and can make plays. When there's nothing there, I'll make a play. I have good agility and move and great vision.

"I want to improve my accuracy at quarterback, my speed and back peddle on defense and my quickness and breakaway speed at running back.

"I like quarterback but only Portland State is recruiting me to pass," he said. "I like running back too and most schools are saying I'll be running back or defensive back."

He benches 275 pounds, squats 380 pounds and has a 32-inch vertical jump.

Broadous said he favors Oregon State slightly over Oregon, Washington, Arizona State, Arizona and Idaho, but none of his favorites have offered. His only offer is from Portland State.

"Oregon State is only one and half hours from my house," he said. "I don't care if I stay close or go far away. I like the coaches a lot and they all seem to have fun. They practice hard and I love the atmosphere there."

"I've talked with coach Mike Bellotti and he said that they really want me to come to their camp this summer."

Broadous plans to attend camps at Oregon State, Boise State, Arizona State and Washington.

"I love the Pac-10 and Washington is an up-and-coming team," he said. "Coach Ty Willingham is a good coach and seems really cool."

He says that Idaho is the school that seems to be recruiting him the hardest. "I think they'll be the next one to offer me," he said. "They send me a lot of handwritten letters and say how much they like me."

Broadous reports a 3.0 core GPA and has a 68 ACT.
