Of the four newest wide receivers from the 2007 recruiting class, it is the one with the least…
Catching Up With Kayne
When Kayne Farquharson inked with the Hurricanes back in December, he was hoping to get a chance to make an impact right away in spring practice. However, that didn't happen. "Because some of my credits didn't transfer to a private school like Miami, I had to take three more classes," Farquharson said. Farquharson took those three classes during the spring semester at Miami Dade Community College. His final grades are in. "Good news," he said. "I finished all my classes and I'll all set. I start summer school at the U on June 26th. I'm ready." Farquharson, 6-feet 1/2 and 192 pounds, will enroll for the second summer school session for the Hurricanes. "Right now, everyone's on a little break," he said. "The players are resting up and the coaches are out recruiting. We start summer workouts at the end of this month. I can't wait." The talented receiver had a chance to watch some of Miami's practices this spring, including the spring game. "Everything looks good," he said. "Coach Shannon has a good thing going on out there. All the coaches are great. I thought the offensive line looked good, the defensive backs looked good, everyone. It's gonna be a good year for the U." Farquharson said he's excited to play in the same Patrick Nix offense that featured Calvin Johnson last year. "Oh, he's a great player," he said. "I don't wanna do those types of things -- I wanna go beyond that. The bar has been set high. The other receivers better tighten up because I'm coming in ready to go." The rising junior said he has big expectations this coming season. "This 7-6 stuff needs to go," he said. "UM is coming back and I'm here to do whatever I can to make it happen. It's showtime, baby!"
