Doug Rippy, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker from Linden-McKinley High in Columbus, Ohio informed Scout.com a couple of weeks ago that he had added verbal offers from Michigan State and Illinois, but it was two in-state programs who are going to be making it official.
“I was calling to tell you that Akron had offered me a scholarship, but I got some brand new news right before,” Rippy began to explain. “Cincinnati has now offered me as well!”
“I called the coach to talk to him about the upcoming camp. He asked me if I had received a text. My phone has been messed up, so I did not get it. He told me that I had a scholarship to attend the university of Cincinnati. It was pretty exciting.”
As a junior, Rippy set his school record by racking up 148 tackles. He also added nine sacks to earn All-District and All-City honors.
He was selected as a Scout.com All-Combine Team member on three separate occasions this year after successful performances in San Antonio, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh.
