OM far exceeds Robert Steeples' expectations

Robert Steeples (CB, St. Louis, MO) - What makes this DeSmet Jesuit product one of the best in the Midwest?

"I think my jam coverages allows me to out physical my man, and I have a lot of speed," added Robert Steeples. "That is what I love to do, play man on man. I have been doing it ever since I was 6 years old."

The 6' 1", 190 pound corner's traits showed up at the Ole Miss football camp as he was lined up against some of the top receivers all day.

"I think I had a good showing even with my groin injury. It got so bad after the lunch break that I had to call it quits for the day. But I accomplished my goal at Ole Miss."

Which was what?

"They offered me a scholarship. Right before I was leaving, Coach Orgeron pulled me over to the side and told me how much he liked me because of how hard I compete. He told me that I had a full scholarship at Ole Miss. I was pretty happy about that because that was my goal going into the camp. Now both me and Wes Kemp have a scholarship at Ole Miss if we want to go together."

What were Robert's observations from the Ole Miss camp, campus, and town?

"To be honest, going into the camp, I just thought they would be a decent football program with a decent campus. But they far exceeded my expectations. They have it all over there, facilities, coaches, good young players. I really think they are about to start contending for the SEC title year in and year out under Coach Orgeron. And I love their staff. They are the type of coaches you would run through a brick wall for. As far as the town. The one word that comes to me is Southern Hospitality. The fans that went to the baseball game; they were die hard fans. They are really into Ole Miss over there. There were like 10,000 fans there just for a baseball game. I will definitely be coming back to Ole Miss for one of my official visits."

Who else is Robert heavily considering?

"I am getting recruited real hard by Purdue. Missouri has already offered me. Iowa, Wake Forest, and Illinois are calling a lot. I am thinking about camping at Michigan too."

What stands out about his homestate university, Missouri?

"I am considering them because they are a program on the rise. Really, around here, everyone pretty much looks down on Missouri football, but the last few years they have really turned it around. I think they are going to be a serious contender for the Big 12 championship for the next few years."

Where will Steeples camp at next?

"I am not going to work out anymore, but I might take some unofficial visits to tour their campuses. I will probably visit Iowa and Wake Forest and maybe Michigan."

Steeples reports a 3.8 GPA / 23 ACT.
