Cory Harkey, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound three-star tight end from Chino Hills (Calif.) attended the UCLA one-day camp on June 9. "It was really cool," Harkey said. "There was a lot of good competition. We did some one-on-one stuff and I liked getting to learn from coaches.
"I felt like I really learned some new things about the camp and liked it overall. I don't remember their names, but there were some great quarterbacks and running backs. Also, I was impressed by the linemen there too. The talent was great."
Harkey, ranked No. 64 in the West by Scout.com, is also planning on attending the USC camp on June 21.
He has scholarship offers from UCLA, Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Boise State and Mississippi and says the Bruins remain his favorite. He favors UCLA slightly over Oregon and Boise State.
"UCLA seems like they want me a lot more than the others," Harkey said. "They are more personal with me and they said that I'd be a good fit for them. I also really like how they use their tight ends."
Harkey plans on visiting Oregon and Boise State this summer and hopes to make a decision before the season starts. "I might commit before the end of the summer," he said. "I probably won't go too long. The longer it goes the more I feel like I want to get it done.
"I'm definitely going to visit Oregon and Boise State," Harkey said. "I like the coaches at Oregon a lot. They are really nice and they really want me to visit. Plus they are always pretty good and produce great athletes every year."
He reports a 3.3 core GPA and is awaiting his May SAT results.
