Laureldale, Pa., native Vaughn Carraway has picked up two more offers since we last spoke with him and is in the process of putting together a list of programs that he will camp at over the summer. This weekend he travels across the state for his first camp stop and more are sure to follow.
Vaughn Carraway
picked up two more offers from
Temple
and
Akron
this week and the 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver is planning a trip this weekend to
Pittsburgh
for camp. Carraway is also in the process of setting up camp plans with his father to get out to
Michigan
and a few other schools and talked to us about his current situation.
“I will be camping at Pittsburgh this weekend on Friday and Saturday and then I will visit some more places after that,” Carraway said. “Pittsburgh is definitely up there with my top schools right now. I like the staff and my cousin just graduated from there and talks to me a lot about them. When I was there for junior day a lot of top recruits were there and we had the opportunity to take in a practice and then take a quick tour of the facilities, but unfortunately I had to leave early. I do know that they share facilities with the
Pittsburgh Steelers
though, so they’re nice. I have been in the locker rooms before back in the day when my other cousin got recruited by them, but I am sure that has changed since then.”
“My father and I were just talking about when I’m going to take my trip out to Michigan for camp,” Carraway stated. “A linebacker from our school
Jeremy Rodriguez
and our quarterback are all going out together, so we are trying to nail down a date and get the plane tickets. I like the coaches at Michigan and how they treat their players there. The quality of academics is really good and they have a winning tradition which is very important. My head coach is a really big Michigan fan, so he is always talking them up to me and wants me to go there. I get a chance to talk to Coach (Steve) Szabo about once a week by text or whatever and have built a pretty good relationship with him. He’s a good coach and seems like a good guy. He just said that they really need to bring in some playmakers at receiver right now.”
“
Rutgers
just contacted my coach and told me they would like me to come down and camp there this summer too, so I will be doing that,” Carraway explained. “Other then that I am really looking at
Boston College
,
West Virginia
and
Tennessee
right now, so I guess you could say my top five are Michigan, Pittsburgh, Boston College, West Virginia and Tennessee at this point.”
As a junior at Muhlenberg High School, Carraway caught 29 passes for 545 yards and nine touchdowns. On defense, he registered 39 tackles and four interceptions.
He benches 230 pounds, squats 340 pounds and claims a 935 SAT, however he just took the test again in May to improve his score.
